Welcome!

Hi, and thank you for visiting my blog! I am Sarah - and I love cakes - baking, decorating, and eating of course! I have always enjoyed baking and sharing sweet treats with family and friends. Now I have started my business "Sweet Cakes" so that I can share my cakes with everyone. Please look at the cakes that I have been making and feel free to email me or call me with any questions. A custom cake can make every event more special - a birthday, a holiday, a company party, a baby shower...anything!

Is it a "Boy or Girl' cupcakes

This was a cute idea from a friend of mine...we filled the inside of the cupcake with a pink or blue icing to indicate if they were having a boy or a girl. They had their family over for dinner and when they ate desert, then the secrete was told! The family had to bite into a cupcake to learn that the inside of the cupcake was BLUE, meaning a boy.

Flower "Bloom" Cake

This cake was made for a teacher's luncheon, and the theme was "thanks for helping the kids bloom". Cute, right? This cake had one layer of my strawberry and one layer of vanilla. I used all butercream frosting and some fondant decorations. I liked the bright colors!

50 Shades Cake

This cake was made for my bookclub in honor of our most recent book. The cake was to be very simple...just a silver/gray tie. If you read the book, then you know why we chose this! ;)

Sydney's First Birthday Cakes

This cake was made for a little girl's 1st birthday - her mom wanted the cake in the shape of a "1" and enough to feed 50 people - so it was big! I used her colors (pink, black, and white) to decorate in "dot icing" all over the cake. It turned out cute with lots of texture! And you see the little "smash cake" that I made for the little girl to dive into by herself. Happy birthday Sydney!

Easter "basket" cake

This was a fun, colorful cake! My 4 year-old daughter asked me to make this cake when we were looking at pictures online. I ended up making it because I liked the bright colors for Easter.

Baptism Cross Cake - Fondant

I LOVE this cake. I made this for a friend, and I really liked the classic, simple look of it. I made vanilla cake and used vanilla buttercream frosting, then topped the cake off with fondant for a polished look. I added a fondant bow and a monogram with matching trim for a little color.

Airplane Cupcakes

We needed to supplement the airplane cake with some kid-friendly cupcakes. So- I made vanilla cupcakes with buttercream icing, then we topped them off with little chocolate airplanes & some colorful sprinkles.

Wade's Airplane Cake!

For Wade's birthday I did a two tier, fondant covered cake. One layer was butter yellow, and the other was chocolate. We did a sky blue fondant with icing that looked like clouds all around the cake. Then we added some cool planes "flying" all around his cake. I think it turned out cute!

Sam's Firetruck Cake

For Sam's birthday his mom wanted a firetruck cake. Sam's favorite color is yellow, so I was asked to make his firetruck yellow. I started by creating the truck out of cake & frosted all the pieces together, cut, and then designed (with my husband's help). Next I made the bottom layer of cake - both were buttercream yellow. This cake required some minor 'engineering' skills, so I was happy to have my husband around. It was a fun cake to make!

Ava's Cake Pops

For Ava's birthday, her mom choose to give cake pops as party favors. I love this idea! I made her chocolate pops with vanilla chocolate coating and purple sprinkles. I heard they were a big hit!

Avery's Princess Cake - Rapunzel "Tangled"

I made my daughter's birthday cake with 3 layers - chocolate, butter cream, and traditional yellow. This cake was made with the doll frosted inside the cake - which can double as a gift for the birthday girl! The cake was frosted in buttercream icing and then topped off with a fondant dress. Cute, right?

Cake pops were made as party-favors. I used vanilla cake and vanilla frosting, then the outside coating is a chocolate (candy coating). Then top of with coordinating sprinkles, a bag & a ribbon.
